How I know God is not Human.
Most people want some long drawn math equation, signs on their palm, or some scientific miracle to prove the existence of God but this is not what has given me the faith I have today. It didn’t take a math teacher, scientist or some religious group to make me believe God is true, but the experiences I have gone through in my life. Life itself proves to me, that there is a God and he is NOT a Human. There are many things in my life that have shown me that there has to be some kind of being that it taking account of all that is going on but these things are so personal that I feel it takes our own reflection to understand. I can rant about how this and that happened and that there has to be a God, but if you cannot look at your life and see that there is a God, a rant is not the key to the puzzle. Reflection is the answer.
I want to focus on the idea that God is human, is a parent to a human, a part of a human or any relation at all to a human. This is blasphemous and we don’t need a researcher at Harvard to tell us why, but again, we need some reflection. Look at the relationships and experiences you have had with human beings, and tell me that God could be anywhere similar. I can bring up history such as the holocaust, slavery, and multiple genocides but wherever there is salt there is pepper. If we look into our lives, it is obvious that God, Allah, is in no way ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever anywhere near in relation to a human.
Not being Megan Fox.
There are many people on this earth that have been blessed with dashingly good looks and then there are the others. I am one of the others. As a kid I was in beauty pageants and all of that mumbo jumbo which had me thinking that me not being able to look like Angelina Jolie or Beyoncé, could not have been that bad. But to make the a long story short, I went to middle school, then high school, and now I am in college. Taking all three of those steps have shown me the importance of looking like these perfect famous people in these great United States. And we can see the effect of this with the upspring of people getting plastic surgery to look like other people with plastic surgery, skinny girls getting skinner, fast girls giving up on health because their get skinny quick pill didn’t work and guys raising their expectations to fantasy levels.
As human we like to look as things that look good. This is why we marry people who we are attracted too (hopefully), why the prettier person is more likely to get the job and why the first thing some people ask is “is he/she ugly or pretty”? And we do not only like looking at it, but we judge by it. If you don’t look this certain way, you cannot hang out with this certain group of people. There have been multiple times where I could be close friends with someone at work or school and when I see them in public, they do the whole “I didn’t see you but I did” look. It’s all about the looks. There is not a person on this earth that would marry someone they had no attraction to or a person who never looked at a person thinking about nothing but there good character. Even the most non-judgmental people have their views on looks, it is just who we are. We came from heaven (Adam(as) was in heaven) where everything is pretty and perfect, so it is not surprising that we still love the sight of pretty things.
But what does this have to do with God being a Human?
If God were human, part of a human, or was the parent to a human, he would have to have this in him, he would judge people by their looks and lets be modest and say that he is the least of judgers, he would still judge by looks. And if this were the case, how would this be fair? This would mean that God favors the pretty people over the ugly people. Now how would this be fair? Some might say my judgment is weak, but like I said from the beginning, this is how I know God could not be a human. Also looks are very subjective, I can think George Clooney is cute but you may think he is not soo cute. So what would be God’s preference and how would we know? And once we know this, would the good looking people who meet his standard go to heaven and the others hell? How would the looks play in the scheme of things? Because looks will play a part because looks always play a part at the end of the day. This is why if you take a professional class they always tell you that, “the first impression is what matters the most”. This argument may seem weak but again, this is why “I” can’t see God having any relation to man. And if God was a part of the birth of man, and looks are subjective, would those who think his “supposed” son Jesus (as) is not attractive, go to hell? I don’t know, does not add up to me, but this is only the beginning.
Allah is Az-Zahir, the manifest and the evident!
Zâhir is that which is outward, manifest, apparent, visible. Allah is manifest, clear, apparent and visible. This name is to not be taken literally in the sense that we can “see” Allah visibly but Allah is evident all around us. Allah is above his creation but is seen through his creation. Allah has created the earth and through the earth’s creations we know that Allah is the one and only God.
“We have created you, so why do you not believe?
Have you seen that which you emit?
Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?
We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone
In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.
And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?
And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?
Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?
If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,
[Saying], “Indeed, we are [now] in debt;
Rather, we have been deprived.”
And have you seen the water that you drink?
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?
And have you seen the fire that you ignite?
Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?
We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.”
56: 57-64
The evidence for Allah’s existence is all around us, we have been given nothing except that it was given by Allah. Allah is Az-Zahir, the manifest and the evident!
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” [21:30]
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.” [21:33]
” Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muhammad], “Produce your proof. This [Qur’an] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me.” [21:24]
Islam is a religion that encourages humanity to think, to reflect. It is evidence-based, it challenges us to think, and when you really reflect, when you really take in God’s word, one realizes that there is no greater truth than “la illaha ill Allah (there is no God but Allah).”
“Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah , they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah , Lord of the Throne, above what they describe…” [21:22]
“[Jesus said], “And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.” Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.” [19:36-37]
How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned.” 2:28
Are you in doubt?
And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah , if you should be truthful. But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.
2:23-24
Bible vs. Quran
In the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:1-7
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,”
In the Quran 6:67,
God Says, “For every happening is a finality; and you are going to know.”
This is perhaps one of my favorite bible verses because it shows so much how although altered, the original bible came from Allah, and look at the verses although different are saying the same thing, there is a time for everything, everything has it’s appointed time, and Allah is the only one with the knowledge of this time. May time be in our favor, inshallah.
